45. Haeckel's World Puzzle
[ 1 ] On Wednesday, Dr. Steiner gave a lecture on the natural sciences at the election committee for the third Reichstag constituency. He presented an overview of modern evolutionary theory and, following a discussion of Haeckel’s book The Riddles of the Universe, highlighted the attacks this work has faced from theological and other opponents of modern natural science. A young theologian, who opposed the speaker on several points, and a doctor, who in turn defended the scientific perspective, participated in the discussion. The remarks of the latter, as well as the views presented by the speaker, were met with lively applause.
