The Spirit of Autumn Awakens
Last week, we lay our summer, outdoor activities to rest in autumn that we might turn inward and awaken spiritually this winter. Now, we feel the spirit of autumn awakening so we might experience the "summer of the soul" during the dark, cold winter. In summer, the Earth exhales and we and it experience a dream-like, warm and blissful summer. Now, we experience in a way a final out-breath and a sacred pause before we begin the winter's inhale and turn inward. As the first frosts come, we must kindle a fire in the soul to nurture the seeds of the spirit so they may germinate in ourselves. The dreams fade and we bloom within.
Practice the Calendar verses to entrain with the rhythms of the seasons. Together, we will radiate these forces out into society through our moral words and deeds of brotherly love. Rudolf Steiner's verses for the 52 weeks of the calendar are here on our website, together with Rudolf Steiner's original German text and several other translations: Rudolf Steiner, The Anthroposophical Calendar.
