Creative Will in Action
Last week, we left the warmth of the external sun and turned inward as the outside world began it's dark, frosty descent into winter. Now, the light from deep within us strives outward, shining like a sun to become living willpower. Those growing internal forces strive to release our creative will, ultimately ripening in our deeds.
This week we practice one of the four "Light Verses." Verses 22 and 31 both begin with "The light" and verses 5 and 48 both begin with "In the Light." Verse 22 reminded us to carry the light of Spirit within ourselves to become "soul-light" as the summer sun began to wane. The light from World-widths lived powerfully within us like a seed to later ripen and blossom. Now, in verse 31, the light from Spirit-depths strives outward from us like the sun as we move into the darkness of winter. With verse 48, we will move once again into the Light, clarifying our spiritual thinking, and then in Verse 5, after Easter, we find ourselves bearing the light from Spirit's depths, expanding into the World, resurrected from our smaller selves through inner power.

Practice the Calendar verses to entrain with the rhythms of the seasons. Together, we will radiate these forces out into society through our moral words and deeds of brotherly love. Rudolf Steiner's verses for the 52 weeks of the calendar are here on our website, together with Rudolf Steiner's original German text and several other translations: Rudolf Steiner, The Anthroposophical Calendar.
