The Philosophy of Spiritual Activity
GA 4a
This supplement to the Philosophy of Spiritual Activity contains facsimiles of many of Rudolf Steiners notes made while writing and editing this work.
In particular it contains changes made between the first edition of 1894 and the revised edition of 1918 on which most English translations are now based.
Finally, it contains all of Eduard von Hartmann's marginal notes, as well as all known reviews, a chronicle of Philosophy of Spiritual Activity, and a list of Rudolf Steiner's statements about it.
The Philosophy of Freedom
G. P. Putnam's Sons, New York and London, 1916.
This first English translation by Prof. and Mrs. R. F. Alfred Hoernlé was based on the original 1894 German edition and the only one sanctioned by Rudolf Steiner himself. The opening chapter entitled The Goal of Knowledge was removed in subsequent editions.
The original German for this chapter up through the first few pages of Human Individuality are contained exclusively in this volume.
