I find myself in the beauty of the World

This week of the anthroposophical calendar reflects the work of human thinking, feeling, and willing. Not only do we think, feel and will, we allow higher forces to think, feel and will through us by aligning ourselves with the impulses of the universe. We must allow cosmic forces to think through us in order to recognize wise tidings during this time of the sunshine; we must allow nature to feel through us; and finally, we must summon the will to lose our lower self and find our higher Self through the beauty that surrounds us. In this sense, we say, "Thy will be done on earth as in heaven."

In verse 10, we felt touched by Divine beings as they expressed themselves through our life of feeling. Through conscious choice to grow our inner Light we can become luminescent beings radiating the Light of the World. Now, in verse 11, we are called to surrender to this "World-beauty" that is living through us. In this way, we are able to let go of our lower egoistic selves and find our rightful place in the Higher Self of the cosmic Self.

Practice the Calendar verses to entrain with the rhythms of the seasons. Together, we will radiate these forces out into society through our moral words and deeds of brotherly love.

Rudolf Steiner's verses for the 52 weeks of the calendar are here on our website, together with Rudolf Steiner's original German text and several other translations: Rudolf Steiner, The Anthroposophical Calendar.
