I feel the seed of my higher self germinating within me

Last week presented us with two spiritual temptations that threaten our inner balance. We were cautioned as we began to feel farther away from the spiritual forces that flow through nature and realized we would be extinguished and kill ourselves if we continue to build upon our own foundation. Like Icarus flying too close to the sun, we risked becoming so enamored with pride that we lose touch with grounded earthly life.

Now, in Verse 21, we fortify ourselves with cosmic power and ripen our developing spiritual selves as we turn inward in Autumn (the spring of the Soul). Our novel translation of Rudolf Steiner's Calendar of the Soul offers 7 lines for the 7 planetary forces of the week revealing the mirrored words of corresponding verses. During the time of verse 21, we are moving away from summer into autumn while in verse 32, we are moving away from autumn into winter.

Verse 21 - U (N. Hemisphere)

Sun: I feel fructified
Moon: A mighty foreign force
Mars: Fortifying me
Mercury: Lending my Self to me,
Jupiter: I feel the seed maturing
Venus: And light-filled prescience weaving within
Saturn: On selfhood's might.

Verse 32 - F' (N. Hemisphere corresponding)

Sun: I feel fructified
Moon: My own strength
Mars: Fortifying me
Mercury: Lending me to the world
Jupiter: I feel my own essence strengthening
Venus: To turn toward clarity, weaving
Saturn: In Life's destiny.

Practice the Calendar verses to entrain with the rhythms of the seasons. Together, we will radiate these forces out into society through our moral words and deeds of brotherly love. Rudolf Steiner's verses for the 52 weeks of the calendar are here on our website, together with Rudolf Steiner's original German text and several other translations: Rudolf Steiner, The Anthroposophical Calendar.
