56. The Mysteries of the World and Humanity

[ 1 ] On Wednesday, February 4, Dr. Rudolf Steiner of Berlin gave a lecture titled “The Mysteries of the World and Man” in the Rittersaal of the municipal Tonhalle before an audience of more than 700 people. The lecture was organized by the Düsseldorf branch of the German Section of the Theosophical Society, which has its headquarters in Adyar near Madras (India) and is expanding into ever-larger areas of the civilized world. The speaker explained how the Theosophical Movement is called upon to establish a full harmony between science and religious sentiment for people of the present day. The views of Theosophy, an overview of which was presented, provide people with complete satisfaction in both of these areas. The lecture, delivered in the spirit of both true religiosity and genuine scientific inquiry, should serve to dispel many of the prejudices held against Theosophy from various quarters. As we have heard, the German Section of the Theosophical Society was founded on October 20 of last year in Berlin-Charlottenburg, on the occasion of the visit to Berlin-Charlottenburg by the English proponent of this spiritual worldview, Mrs. Annie Bessant, with the well-known German theosophist Dr. Hübbe-Schleiden in attendance. – Theosophical endeavors will certainly continue to be the subject of much discussion, as they open up to us Germans, to a greater extent, a field whose spiritual foundation is destined to profoundly shake up our German people. The meetings of the Düsseldorf branch lodge take place every first and third Monday of the month at 8:30 p.m. at Adersstraße 26. Dr. Steiner’s lecture will also be available there shortly as a pamphlet.
